How to grow your own sprouts at home:
- Place 1 to 2 tablespoons of seeds in a preserving jar (min. 1.5 litres, wide neck). Add plenty of lukewarm/warm water.
- Secure a plastic or glass fibre mesh firmly over the jar. (Preferably do not use aluminium).
- After approximately 10 hours of soaking, drain the water, rinse the seeds, and drain again.
- Place the jar upside down at an angle at room temperature (not on a radiator or in direct sunlight) so that excess water can drain away and there is sufficient air. Spread the seeds/sprouts across the jar.
- Rinse the seeds/sprouts for approximately 4 days, 3 times a day, always returning the jar to its angled, upside-down position.
- After the final rinse (or washing process to remove hulls), allow the sprouts to grow dry for at least 18 hours at room temperature before consuming or refrigerating.
- Store any remaining sprouts refrigerated (max. 7°C) in a closed (but not airtight) container.
