How it works
Voltaren Emulgel uses diclofenac diethylammonium, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Unlike tablets that travel through the whole body, you apply this gel directly to the skin over the painful joint. The active substance penetrates through the skin layers to tackle the inflammation and pain locally, which contributes to a more supple feeling in the fingers or knee.

Ingredients
Diclofenac diethylammonium, carbomer, macrogol cetostearyl ether, cocoyl caprylocaprate, diethylamine, isopropyl alcohol, propylene glycol, liquid paraffin, perfume cream 45 (containing benzyl benzoate), purified water.
Use & Dosage
For adults and children over 12 years: Apply Voltaren Emulgel 4 times a day to the area of the knee or hand that is painful. Gently rub a small amount of this medicine onto the skin where the pain is located. The required amount depends on the size of the painful area. Usually, an amount the size of a cherry to a walnut is sufficient. A slight cooling effect may occur when rubbing in. Wipe your hands after use with absorbent paper or a damp cloth (unless your hands were the area to be treated) and wash your hands afterwards. Maximum dosage: 4x per 24 hours.
Safety & Disclaimer
Do not use if: allergic to diclofenac or other painkillers/anti-inflammatories (such as ibuprofen or acetylsalicylic acid); allergic to the excipients; during the third trimester of pregnancy. Stop immediately if a skin rash occurs. Do not use on open wounds, eczema, acne, infected skin, mucous membranes or near the eyes. Do not apply under airtight bandages. Avoid sunlight and sunbeds during treatment and for 2 weeks afterwards. During pregnancy or breastfeeding: must NOT be used, unless on strict advice of a doctor. Read the package leaflet before use.
