This organic and Fairtrade cacao is grown by the Awajun along the banks of the Cenepa and Rio Santiago rivers in the Amazon rainforest. They are members of the NorAndino cooperative, an organisation with approximately 5,000 members, including 1,800 cacao farmers, spread across northern Peru, both on the coast and in the Amazon.
Additionally, we support NorAndino with a special project. They process part of the cacao harvest themselves in their own cacao factory. The factory in Peru is larger than the factory in Amsterdam, featuring a modern production line for high-quality organic and Fairtrade cocoa mass. In the future, they will also be able to make chocolate themselves.
