Bio-Melatonin Complex is a food supplement containing 0.29 mg of the active substance melatonin per lozenge. It also contains 10 mg of niacin. Melatonin should always be taken before bedtime.

Using a lozenge prevents the so-called portal vein effect that occurs with swallowed melatonin tablets. This effect causes 90% of swallowed melatonin to leave the body unused. With a lozenge, melatonin is absorbed through the oral mucosa, bypassing the portal vein effect. This ensures 10x better absorption of the melatonin. The 0.29 mg dose thus provides comparable absorption to 2.9 mg of melatonin.

Bio-Melatonin Complex also contains 10 mg of niacin. L-tryptophan is used as a raw material in the body's own production of melatonin. The same substance is also a raw material for niacin production. By adding 10 mg of niacin, 600 mg of L-tryptophan is spared for the body's own melatonin production.
