When breastfeeding does not go smoothly due to sensitive nipples or latching problems, this can cause the necessary uncertainty and physical discomfort. Sore nipples, cracked nipples or a baby who has difficulty latching can disrupt this intimate moment between mother and child. The Medela Contact Nipple Shields Size L offer gentle and effective support in this regard. They protect the sensitive skin and help your baby to latch on more easily and calmly, so that you can continue to breastfeed with confidence and comfort.
Key benefits
- Effectively protects sensitive, dry nipples and painful cracked nipples during the breastfeeding period.
- Made of ultra-thin, transparent and soft silicone material that feels natural and comfortable on sensitive skin.
- Specially shaped to maximise skin contact between you and your baby, which promotes natural bonding.
- Completely safe, tasteless and BPA-free for a worry-free feeding experience for your baby.
- Offers a practical tool for flat or inverted nipples, making latching significantly easier.
How it works
The Medela Contact Nipple Shields are designed with the physiology of both mother and child in mind. The ultra-thin silicone material ensures that the mother's warmth and scent are optimally transferred, which is essential for the baby's sucking reflex. The special cutout at the top ensures that the baby continues to feel and smell your skin while drinking. This supports a natural drinking technique and helps to keep the milk flow going, while your nipples get the necessary rest to recover.

Use & Dosage
Wash your hands thoroughly with drinking-quality water and soap before touching the nipple shield and the breast. Dry your hands with a clean, unused towel or a single-use paper towel. Clean the breast and the surrounding skin with a damp cloth. Do not use soap or alcohol, as this can dry out the skin and cause cracked nipples. Moisten the nipple shield with water so that it sticks to the skin better. Push the tip almost inside out and hold the wings of the Nipple Shield. Place the nipple shield with the nipple in the centre. The open part should point towards the baby's nose during feeding.
Safety & Disclaimer
Medical device. Read the instructions for use before use. Take into account the needs of both the mother and the baby when choosing the right size. For the mother, the nipple shield should fit comfortably and must not pinch. For premature babies, the baby must be able to touch the flat base of the nipple shield on the breast with their lips.
