How it works

Lamberts FOS (Eliminex) uses Fructo-Oligosaccharides (FOS), a specific group of soluble fibres extracted from chicory root. Unlike regular carbohydrates, these fibres are not digested by human enzymes in the small intestine. They reach the large intestine almost intact. Here, they serve as a specific food source for the beneficial bacteria present, such as bifidobacteria. Through this selective feeding, the powder helps maintain a healthy and active gut flora, which forms the foundation for your overall vitality and well-being.

Usage & Dosage

FOS can be used in two ways: a low dose as a prebiotic (bowel conditioner) or a higher dose (building up and maintaining regulation):

Prebiotic: initial / maintenance
Adults: 5.0g / 10g
Children from 1 year: 2.5g / 5g

Building up and maintaining regulation (per day): start (3 days) / normal dose / maximum dose
Adults: 5.0g / try 15g / 20g
Children: 2.5g / try 5g / 10g

Dissolve the recommended amount in hot drinks, water or fruit juice, or take during meals: one level dessert spoon = 5 grams.

FOS can cause temporary flatulence. If this persists for longer than 3 days, it is recommended to reduce the dosage. If significant flatulence occurs at the indicated dosage, reduce the dosage and then slowly build up to the recommended dosage. The flatulence, which normally disappears within a few days, is a positive sign that the FOS is reaching the bowel and feeding your own flora.

When taking more than 10 grams (children 5 grams) per day, it is recommended to divide the dose into two equal portions to be taken at the beginning and at the end of the day. This can prevent or limit the occurrence of initial flatulence.
