Every day in the kitchen, we unknowingly use large amounts of plastic, including synthetic washing-up sponges that leave behind microplastics and quickly end up in landfill. This constant consumption of non-biodegradable materials does not fit a conscious and vital lifestyle. The LoofCo Organic Loofah Washing-up Sponge offers the perfect, natural solution. This handmade, plant-based sponge supports a plastic-free household and ensures effective cleaning, so you can take care of your living environment and your family with peace of mind.
The sponge is made from the loofah plant, a fast-growing plant from the cucumber family that absorbs CO2 during growth. When the fruit ripens, a dense network of strong, flexible fibres forms on the inside. After harvesting, the loofahs are peeled, deseeded and dried. In a dry state, the sponge has a slightly abrasive effect, but as soon as it absorbs water, the fibres transform into a resilient, soft structure that effectively picks up dirt without leaving scratches.

100% Luffa plant with a cotton hanging loop.
Rinse the sponge thoroughly before first use. Use the sponge in warm water with washing-up liquid, like a normal washing-up sponge. The sponge is abrasive when dry, but when you immerse it in water it swells into a soft, flexible sponge. To keep the loofah in good condition, squeeze out the excess water, shake out any food particles and hang the sponge up by the cotton loop to dry. Wash the sponge occasionally in the washing machine or by hand if desired.
Allow the sponge to air dry thoroughly after each use to optimise hygiene and lifespan. Not suitable for consumption.
