What is this medicine used for?

• Acute or chronic diarrhoea.

When should you not use this medicine?

• If you are allergic to any of the ingredients in this medicine.
• This medicine must never be given to children under 2 years of age.
• The capsules are not suitable for children under 8 years of age.
• If you think the cause of the diarrhoea could be poisoning (e.g. with a heavy metal).
• If you have a 'megacolon' (a severely dilated large intestine, a serious condition that can occur in patients with Hirschsprung's disease, Crohn's disease, or ulcerative colitis).
• If you actually have a bowel obstruction, causing watery stool to 'leak through'.
