Organic broccoli seeds
Broccoli seeds belong to the Brassicaceae family, the cabbage family. Numerous studies conducted in recent years have shown that sprouts from the cabbage family, and broccoli sprouts in particular, contain glucosinolates. Broccoli sprouts can be used as a sandwich topping, in salads, in vegetable mashes, or added to soup just before serving.
Ingredients
Organic broccoli seeds
Usage
- Place one to two tablespoons of seeds in a preserving jar and add plenty of lukewarm water. (Any glass jar is suitable, provided it is large enough (min. 1.5 litres) and the neck does not narrow too much.)
- Secure a plastic or fibreglass mesh over the jar using a sturdy elastic band. Preferably do not use aluminium mesh as this is sometimes treated against insects.
- Drain the water after the specified soaking time¹, rinse the seeds, and drain the water again.
- Place the jar at room temperature, tilted upside down in a colander, rack, or tray so that excess water can drain away. (It is important that all water can drain; the water clinging to the sprouts is sufficient to keep the germination process going. It is also important that the seeds/sprouts do not cover the entire mesh. For a good result, sufficient air supply is vital. Therefore, after each rinse, distribute the seeds/sprouts along the length of the jar.) Do not place the jar with seeds/sprouts on a radiator or in direct sunlight!
- Rinse the seeds/sprouts approximately 3 times a day during the specified growing time², and always return the jar to its position...
