Fenugreek seed (Trigonella foenum-graecum) has a rich history, originating in Mesopotamia and used for centuries in countries including China and India. This is your chance to continue this tradition with pure, organic quality.

Usage

1. Put one to two tablespoons of seeds in a preserving jar (min. 1.5 litres, with a wide neck) and add plenty of lukewarm/warm water.
2. Attach a plastic or fibreglass mesh to the jar with a strong elastic band. Avoid aluminium mesh.
3. Drain the water after the soaking time (± 6 hours), rinse the seeds, and drain the water again.
4. Place the jar at room temperature, tilted upside down (in a colander, rack, or container) so that excess water can drain away. Ensure sufficient airflow and spread the seeds/sprouts along the length of the jar. Do not place on a radiator or in direct sunlight!
5. Rinse the seeds/sprouts approximately 3 times a day during the growing period (± 4 days), and always return the jar to the tilted upside-down position afterwards.
6. After the final rinse, allow the sprouts to grow dry (tilted upside down) at room temperature for at least 18 hours before consuming and/or placing in the fridge.

If desired, you can replace the final rinse with a 'washing action' to remove the hulls from the sprouts:
Fill a basin with lukewarm/warm water, loosen the sprouts, and 'wave' the hulls over the edge. Scoop the sprouts out of the water, return them to the jar, attach the mesh, and allow to grow dry for at least 18 hours.
