Maintaining a vital lifestyle requires fresh, nutritious food that is rich in active nutrients. Ready-made vegetables often fall short in providing essential micronutrients, which can lead to a less energetic feeling. With Peuleschil Organic Wheatgrass seeds, you bring the power of young, living plants directly into your own kitchen. By sprouting wheatgrass yourself, you create an extremely fresh and concentrated source of nutrients that supports your daily routine in a natural way.
Sprouting is the process where a dormant seed awakens and transforms into a young plant. During this phase, stored nutrients are activated and converted into easily absorbable vitamins, minerals, and enzymes. Wheatgrass sprouts are known for their high concentration of vital substances. By soaking and rinsing the seeds at home, you mimic natural growth conditions, resulting in an extremely powerful and living food that contributes to your daily vitality.

Wheatgrass seeds
1. Place one to two tablespoons of seeds in a preserving jar and add plenty of lukewarm/warm water. [Any glass jar is suitable, provided it is large enough (min. 1½ litres) and the neck is not (too) narrow.]
2. Secure a piece of plastic or fibreglass fly screen over the jar using a sturdy (postman's) elastic band. Preferably do not use aluminium fly screen as this is sometimes treated against insects.
3. After the indicated soaking time¹, drain the water, rinse the seeds, and drain the water again.
4. Place the jar at room temperature at an angle, upside down in a colander, rack, or container so that excess water can drain away.
[It is important that all water can drain away; the water that remains on the sprouts is sufficient to keep the germination process going. It is also important that the seeds/sprouts do not cover the entire mesh. For a good result, it is of great importance that there is sufficient air supply. Therefore, distribute the seeds/sprouts along the length of the jar after each rinse.]
Do not place the jar with seeds/sprouts on the heater or in direct sunlight!
5. Rinse the seeds/sprouts approximately 3 times a day during the indicated cultivation period², and always place the jar back at an angle, upside down.
6. After the very last rinse*, let the sprouts dry in the jar (at an angle, upside down) at room temperature for at least 18 hours before consuming them and/or putting them in the fridge.
* If desired, the last rinse can be replaced by a 'washing action' to remove the hulls from the sprouts:
- Fill a small bowl or similar to the brim with lukewarm/warm water.
- Place the sprouts in this and 'wash' them loose.
- Skim off the hulls by 'waving' them over the edge of the bowl.
- Scoop the sprouts out of the water by hand and put them back in the jar.
- Reattach the mesh, place the jar at an angle, upside down, and let it dry at room temperature for at least 18 hours.
Store remaining sprouts chilled (max. 7°C) and sealed (not airtight).
¹ Soaking time: ± 8 hours
² Cultivation period: ± 3 days
Ensure good hygiene during the germination process to prevent mould growth. Use clean drinking water for rinsing. Manufacturer: De Peuleschil, Richterlaan 3-12, 9207 JT Drachten.
