How it works

The Medela Quick Clean microwave sterilisation bags use hot steam to quickly and effectively neutralise bacteria and germs. This process is entirely based on the natural power of water vapour, meaning no chemicals are involved. The numbered boxes on the bag allow you to easily keep track of how many times you have already used the bag, which contributes to an organised and safe daily routine.

Use & Dosage

Disassemble the items you want to disinfect. Rinse all parts in cold, clean water (approx. 20 °C) and clean them in warm soapy water (approx. 30 °C). Rinse again with cold, clean water. Add 60 ml of water to the bag. Do not use less than 60 ml of water. If you use less water, the parts may shrink. Place the parts you want to disinfect into the bag. Do not overfill the bag. Do not disinfect the tubing in the microwave bag. The tubing may become deformed. One bag is large enough for, for example: - one breast shield/connector/valve with membrane and a bottle with cap or teat; - two breast shields/connectors/valves with membranes; - two breast milk bottles (150 ml) with caps/teats; - two breast milk bottles (250 ml) with caps/teats. Seal the bag tightly. Place the sealed bag in the microwave. Place the bag in the centre of the turntable. Ensure the bag is standing firmly upright and can rotate freely in the microwave. Note: If your microwave does not have a turntable, turn the bag over halfway through the heating process. Heat the bag according to the heating times below. Heating times: - 1100 W+ = 1.5 minutes - 800–1100 W = 3 minutes - 500–750 W = 5 minutes. If you use longer heating times than recommended, the parts may shrink. Carefully remove the hot bag from the microwave. Use oven mitts or pot holders, as hot water and steam can collect in the microwave. First, pour the hot water out of the bag via the drain hole. Then carefully open the bag. Be careful when removing the bag from the microwave and opening it. Hot water or steam may escape (this can cause burns). Carefully remove all parts from the bag. Dry each part with a clean cloth. Store parts that you do not use immediately after cleaning in a clean zip-lock bag or a container with a lid. You can also wrap the parts in clean paper or a clean cloth. You can use the bag up to 20 times. You can keep track of how many times you have used the bag using the numbered boxes on the bag.
