What is this product used for
Measuring body temperature
Instructions for use
OPERATING MANUAL
1. Press the ON/OFF button. The display shows:
2. Release the ON/OFF button; the display now shows L °C, with °C flashing.
3. Clean or disinfect the measuring probe before each measurement. Place the measuring probe orally, rectally or axillary (see
measurement methods).
4. As soon as the thermometer no longer detects a relevant temperature rise, °C stops flashing and the maximum value measured up to that point is shown, accompanied by a series of signal tones.
5. After the signal tone, the thermometer continues the temperature measurement for a few more minutes, during which a small increase in the indicated temperature is possible. The measured maximum temperature is held and shown on the LCD display for three minutes and stored, after which the thermometer automatically switches off. The thermometer can also be switched off immediately by briefly pressing the ON/OFF button.
6. The device switches off automatically after approx. 3 minutes. To extend the battery life, we recommend switching off the thermometer by pressing the ON/OFF button after you have noted the temperature.
7. To consult the memory, press and hold the ON/OFF button for 2 seconds while the device is switched off. The last measured temperature appears on the LCD display
NOTE: You can slide a plastic protective cover over the tip of the measuring probe to prevent cross-infection and contamination. The use of a protective cover can result in a deviation of 0.1 °C from the actual temperature. Dispose of used protective covers after use and store the device in a safe place.
MEASUREMENT METHODS
Only temperatures above the ambient temperature can be measured.
ORAL (over 45 to 90 seconds)
Insert the measuring head far under the patient's tongue. Instruct the patient to keep the mouth closed.
The normal temperature with this method is between 36.0°C and 37.5°C.
RECTAL (over 45 to 90 seconds) If your doctor recommends a rectal temperature measurement, you can use disposable covers for the measuring head.
Insert the thermometer into this disposable cover. Use a lubricant to facilitate insertion (no
rough petroleum jelly). Do not insert the tip of the measuring head further than 1.5 cm into the rectum. STOP as soon as you feel a resistance.
The rectal temperature measurement is almost 0.5°C to 1.0°C higher than the oral temperature. AXILLARY
Rub the armpit with a dry towel. Insert the measuring head into the patient's armpit and ensure that
they keep the arm pressed firmly against the side of the body. The normal temperature is approx. 36.7 °C. Remember that to achieve a better measurement result of the axillary temperature, regardless of the beep,
a minimum measurement time of 2 to 3 minutes is recommended.
NOTE: In case you compare temperatures between two thermometers, it is possible that
you see two different values, even if both thermometers are within their accuracy tolerance.
Differences exist with every measurement and the tolerance range of the thermometer can make a difference
of almost 0.1°C.
RECOMMENDATION: Determine your normal temperature and watch for changes
CLEANING AND DISINFECTION
For the disposal of the thermometer and the batteries, the applicable regulations must be observed.
This thermometer must not be disposed of with household waste. Every consumer is obliged to hand in all electrical and electronic devices, regardless of whether they contain harmful substances or not, at a collection point in their town or at a dealer, so that they can be processed in an environmentally friendly manner.
Remove the batteries before you discard the thermometer. Do not throw used batteries away with household waste, but hand them
in at a waste station for small chemical waste or a battery collection point in the specialist trade.
REPLACING THE BATTERY
1. When the symbol “ “ appears, the battery must be replaced.
2. Pull off the battery cover in the indicated direction.
3. Use a toothpick or an insulated probe to remove the battery. Do not use sharp,
metal objects for this.
4. Place a new 1.55 VDC button battery of type SR41, UCC392, LR41, 192 or an equivalent type in the compartment, with the positive side facing up and the negative side facing down.
5. Put the battery cover back on and secure it safely
