Do you also notice that your health and mood are affected when you're disrupted from your usual routine? Especially now that the clocks have changed to summer time, you'll notice that you need to readjust your rhythm. There's a lot to learn from the Ayurvedic clock, which is based on the rhythm of the doshas.

Now that summer has begun and the days are getting longer, you'll find yourself becoming more active. Because the weather is improving, people tend to go outside more. The sun is stronger, and that gives you more energy. You're moving with the rhythm of nature. That's exactly what it does.Ayurveda.

In Ayurveda, the day is divided into six parts. Each part is dominated by a different dosha. This allows you to structure your day in harmony with the rhythms of nature, with a healthy body and mind as your primary goal.

As you read in the previous blog post, your eating, sleeping, and activity rhythms are linked to your overall health. Following the rhythm of the doshas can help you lead a healthy and balanced life. All three doshas occur twice a day.

Dosha Times:

Kapha

6:00-10:00 AM

Pitta

10:00-14:00

Vata

2:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Kapha

6:00 PM - 10:00 PM

Pitta

10 PM - 2 AM

Vata

02:00-06:00

The best time to get up is just before Kapha time.

When nature awakens; up to about an hour before sunrise is the best time to get up. Vata is composed of the elements air and ether, which brings a kind of enlightenment. If you often wake up around sunrise, this could be the explanation. But if you wake up much earlier than sunrise, this may indicate that your Vata has become unbalanced.

Waking up and getting out of bed during this time puts you in a natural energy flow. This will help you get through the rest of the day with ease, as will meditation and yoga exercises. Doing these during Vata time will have a positive effect on the rest of your day. Kapha types are known for their slow digestion, so opt for an easily digestible breakfast.

On fire

With Pitta, your day is on fire!

From 10:00 AM onwards, it's Pitta time. One of the elements of Pitta is fire. This time ensures productivity. So it's time to get work done. During Pitta time, the sun is at its highest point in the sky, and thus your inner light is at its best. A hallmark ofPittaDigestion is quick at this time of day. You can use this time to eat your largest meal, as your body can digest food best now. Due to the fire element, it's advisable to avoid confrontations at this time, as they can easily get out of hand.

Use your creativity during Vata season

The energy ofVatais mobile, creative, and adaptable. Do you notice that you get creative ideas after 2 p.m.? This is the time to express your creativity. Do you experience an afternoon slump? Or crave sweets? This could be due to an unhealthy lunch or having gotten up during Kapha time. At the end of the afternoon, prepare yourself for the evening. Go for a walk or meditate to process the day. Avoid drinking more coffee and don't overeat.

Start your evening relaxed during Kapha time

From 6:00 PM onwards, please return toKapha-Time back. During this time, you prepare for sleep. It's best to eat a light meal, lighter than the food you had in the afternoon. This can then be fully digested before bedtime. Your body will then have enough time to produce melatonin, which makes you tired and ready for sleep.

Are you someone who doesn't go to bed before 10 p.m.? After 10 p.m., it's Pitta time again; the fire is rekindled, providing an energy boost and a strong pull. If you go to sleep during Pitta time, your sleep will be much more elusive and of lower quality.

Sleep

Recharge your energy during Pitta season

Pitta in the evening represents rest and processing. Sleeping during this time gives your body ample time and peace to process the day's events and perform maintenance, allowing you to wake up refreshed the next day. While you sleep, your body works diligently to process everything and restore balance.

Feeling restless during Vata season?

Do you sometimes worry at night? Restlessness and stress are characteristics of Vata. The more you sleep during Pitta time, the more likely you are to sleep longer during Vata time. The more you live according to the Ayurvedic clock, the better you will sleep.

Are you afraid of getting up before Kapha time? It can bring you many benefits. You might find it easier in summer than in winter. It's about going with the flow. The sun rises later in winter than in summer. If you want to calculate the best times for each dosha, you can divide the number of hours of daylight by three and the number of hours of darkness by three.
