The healthy effects of the sea

Sea air works wonders! After a visit to the beach, you often feel fresher and more positive. The sea reduces stress, subconsciously encourages more exercise, and contributes to your physical and mental well-being. For centuries, doctors have sent patients to the sea. How does the sea achieve this beneficial effect?

You are inhaling medication

The mineral salts in seawater have the property of distributing themselves in the lungs as negative ions. This allows the body to absorb oxygen more quickly. This process also stimulates the production of the happiness hormone serotonin, which has a positive effect on sleep, appetite, mood, and stress. So, you're essentially inhaling medication when you're at the seaside.

Soothing substances in your skin

Seawater contains many beneficial substances that can penetrate your skin; for example, potassium, calcium, sulfur, silicon, fluorine, and zinc. Swimming in seawater also provides exercise, which promotes flexible joints.

Vitamin More

Many studies agree on the positive role of sea air in our iodine intake. Air rich in algae contains enough iodine to meet a person's daily requirement. Iodine is needed, among other things, for the production of thyroid hormones, which regulate your metabolism, energy levels, and body temperature. Sea air also contains magnesium and other elements that stimulate the immune responses of the skin and respiratory system. Therefore, everyone benefits from a breath of sea air, especially people with asthma or allergies.

What if you don't live by the sea?

Not all of us are lucky enough to regularly breathe in sea air. With the following "salty" products, you can bring the sea to you.

Celtic sea salt

Celtic sea salt contains 72 minerals, in addition to sodium and chloride. For example, it has a relatively high potassium and magnesium content. Because it contains more minerals, it's a much better choice than regular table salt. And much tastier!
