Emla Plaster

Emla plasters contain two active substances: lidocaine and prilocaine. These local anaesthetics briefly numb the surface of the skin. The plaster is applied to the skin before certain medical procedures, such as needle insertion or minor skin surgery. You will not feel pain on the skin, although light pressure and touch may still be perceptible.
What this medicine is used for
To numb the skin before needle insertion (e.g. injections) or minor skin surgery.
Do not use if
You or your child are allergic to lidocaine, prilocaine, other similar local anaesthetics, or any of the other ingredients in this medicine. Do not use this medicine on cuts, grazes, or wounds, where there is a skin rash or eczema, near the eyes, or in the mouth. Do not use on premature infants. Do not use together with certain medicines (see leaflet). Avoid contact with the eyes.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Active ingredients
Each Emla plaster contains 25 mg lidocaine and 25 mg prilocaine.
Excipients
Carboxypolymethylene, polyoxyl hydrogenated castor oil, sodium hydroxide (E524), purified water, and acrylate as an adhesive.
