Ingredients
One millilitre of solution contains 0.5 mg of xylometazoline hydrochloride. Excipients: benzalkonium chloride and disodium edetate dihydrate (preservatives), sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, disodium hydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate, sodium chloride, and purified water.
Use & Dosage
Xylometazoline HCl Sandoz nasal drops 0.5 mg/ml must not be used in children under 2 years of age and may only be used in children aged 2 to 12 years under parental supervision.
The recommended dosage is:
Children aged 2 to 6 years:
Under parental supervision. One to two drops in each nostril, one to three times a day. There should be 8 to 10 hours between two administrations. No more than three administrations per nostril per day.
Children aged 6 to 12 years:
Under parental supervision. Two to four drops in each nostril, two to three times a day. There should be 8 to 10 hours between two administrations. No more than three administrations per nostril per day.
In children under 2 years of age, efficacy and safety have not been established and this product should only be administered on medical advice.
Maximum dosage: 3x per 24 hours.
Instructions for use: Blow the nose before use, tilt the head back and apply the drops in each nostril. Keep the head tilted back for a few minutes after administration. Do not use for longer than 7 days without consulting a doctor. Read the patient information leaflet before use and pay attention to the maximum daily dosage.

Do not use if:
- You are or your child is allergic to any of the ingredients in this medicine.
- You or your child have recently undergone nasal surgery; in that case, consult your doctor before using Xylometazoline HCl Sandoz nasal drops.
- Xylometazoline HCl Sandoz nasal drops 0.5 mg/ml must not be used by children under 2 years of age.
- Narrow-angle glaucoma, high blood pressure, heart or thyroid disorders, diabetes. Sensitivity to adrenaline-like substances. Do not use together with medicines for depression.
Extra caution with:
- It is not advisable to use this medicine for longer than 7 days, as this will damage the mucosa. We advise you to read the patient information leaflet before use.
- Consult a doctor before use if you are elderly, have cardiovascular disease, thyroid disorders, adrenal gland problems, diabetes mellitus, porphyria (metabolic disease), or an enlarged prostate.
- Consult a doctor before use if you are taking medicines for depression.
Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding:
- During pregnancy: Not preferred, consult your doctor.
- During breastfeeding: Not preferred, consult your doctor.
Consult a GP if:
- Babies with a blocked nose where physiological saline solution and removing the mucus with a suction pump have insufficient effect, especially if problems with feeding arise.
- People who have needed or used nasal spray with xylometazoline, oxymetazoline, or tramazoline daily for a long time.
- People with symptoms on only one side of the nose.
- People who are short of breath or wheezing.
- People whose symptoms have not improved after two weeks.
